The solution of inverse problems conditioned on observed data is widely used in environmental modeling to identify the unknown parameters. Even though manual model calibration is the traditional approach, automated parameter estimation is certainly more powerful.

The course will cover an introduction to the theoretical aspects of inverse modeling and the use of the PEST and bgaPEST packages for automated model calibration.
