The Internet of Things (IoT) Lab (http://iotlab.unipr.it/) coordinates activities and research collaborations, in context of innovative IoT-oriented communication and processing systems, with companies, universities, and agencies, both national and international. The IoT Lab is formed by a few young researchers (PhD students, research associates, post-docs, researchers), together with several Masters’ students and other collaborating Faulty members. The current research activities focus on four main interwoven research areas: (i) signal processing, (ii) advanced communication and networking, (iii) Internet of Things and smart systems; (iv) data analysis, also based on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. Interdisciplinarity is a key principle of all research activities of the IoT Lab and the goal of the IoT Lab is move from theory to practice. The IoT Lab has carried out projects for over 4 M€. Illustrative institutional partners are: European Commission (H2020: AFarCloud, InSecTT, ADACORSA, NextPerception; FP7: CALIPSO), MIUR/MUR (CRIMSON, AFarCloud, ADACORSA, NextPerception), MISE (X-NETAD, InSecTT), Regione Emilia-Romagna (AgrIoT). Companies which have been collaborating with the IoT Lab over the years include: Cisco Systems Inc. (USA), Finmeccanica-Leonardo (Italy), Elettric80 (Italy), Huawei Technologies (Germany and China), Istituto Auxologico Italiano (Italy), Wegh Group (Italy), BOSCH Service Solutions (Italy), UnipolSai (Italy), Argotractors (Italy), GlaxoSmithKlyne (Italy), Selta (Italy), and others. The equipment of the IoT lab is composed by more than 150+ IoT/edge nodes supporting heterogeneous connectivity and sensing capabilities.
