Silvia Rastelli
Silvia Rastelli received her Ph.D. from the University of Parma (Italy) on March 2007, under the supervision of Prof. Antonio Montepara and Prof. Felice Giuliani. Her dissertation focused on the interaction with light and grip characteristics in materials for road surfaces.
From 2007 to 2016 she has been a Post-Doctoral research fellow in Infrastructural Engineering - Roads, railways and airports area (ICAR/04) at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture of the University of Parma.
In addition to the applied research activities, she has carried out teaching activities in the Master Degree course “Pavements management and design”. She has also provided teaching support to the classes of “Construction of roads, railways and airports”, “Urban and metropolitan infrastructures” and “Transportation and infrastructures engineering” as part of the Bachelor and Master Degree courses in Civil Engineering of the University of Parma. She has also been tutor of Ph.D. students and co-examiner of more than 30 Bachelor and Master Degree thesis.
Her research interests mainly concern several aspects: reinforcements for the maintenance of flexible road pavements, fracture’s mechanic applied to bituminous conglomerate, performance characterization of pavements mixes, cold recycling and recycled materials in road pavements, photometric properties of road pavements subjected to vehicular traffic, perception of the road layout in uneven lighting conditions, horizontal road signs.
She is author of 23 papers for scientific journals and proceeding of national and international conferences.
She earned different honors and prizes as Best Memory Scientific Research (SIIV 2008) and Italian Association for Traffic and Transports Engineering (AIIT 2009) for her Ph.D. thesis.
Since 2003 member of SIIV. Since 2006 member of the RILEM Task Group 2 “Mixture Design and Compaction - International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures”. Since 2009 member of AIIT. From 2010 to 2018 member of the “Infrastructures Commission” at the Order of Engineers of Province of Parma.
Since November 2018 she is a technician in the permanent staff of the University of Parma, covering design and executive roles in the laboratory of “Material testing and structures”.
