Giuseppe Verterame
Giuseppe Verterame received his PhD with honour in May 2022 at University of Parma under the supervision of Prof. Carlo Quintelli. His research activity derives from an interest in the city as space for the community, through its social and cultural values.
In particular, his doctoral thesis focus on the regeneration of the european medium-sized city through an instrument of the architectural and urban design called macroisolato, which is a typological hybridization of the urban block.
During his doctoral studies, he also has been research member of ArcheA, a project about the study and the design of the european medium-sized city funded by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and he has also got involved in research on italian postwar architects works as Ignazio Gardella (with CSAC - Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione of Università di Parma) and Giorgio Raineri (with Politecnico di Torino).He has been tutor at various international workshops as "MIAW" at Politecnico di Milano in 2018, "Expo dopo Expo" at Università of Parma in 2016, "Ciudad comprendida como Campus" (ETSA Granada) in 2015. He mainly gave lectures at "Tecniche della composizione architettonica nei processi di rigenerazione urbana" held by prof. Carlo Quintelli at University of Parma during the academic year 2020/21. He has provided teaching support at the courses of Urban and Architectural Design held by Proff. Carlo Quintelli, Enrico Prandi and Carlo Gandolfi at University of Parma, from the academic year 2015/16.
Currently, his research topics deal with collective housing at architectural and urban scale. He is a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Parma (Department of Engineering and Architecture) working on the developing of macroisolato in the regional context of Emilia-Romagna.
He is member of UAL - Urban and Architectural Laboratory, a research group focused on architecture, city and its dynamics of transformation.
