Nuovo corso di LM Interateneo in "Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering": pubblicazione bandi per l'ammissione

Dall' a.a. 2017/18 è attivo il nuovo corso di Laurea Magistrale Interateneo in "Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering"  (Classe LM-29 - Ingegneria elettronica) nato dalla collaborazione fra le Università di Bologna, Modena e Reggio Emilia, Parma, Ferrara e  le maggiori aziende automobilistiche  e motoristiche italiane. Il corso è svolto interamente in lingua inglese. Le lezioni del primo anno si svolgono a Bologna, quelle del secondo anno a Modena, ma i docenti  provengono dalle quattro università promotrici. Il corso è a numero programmato: per l'a.a. 2017/18 sono previsti n. 22 posti per cittadini italiani e dell'Unione Europea e 8 posti per cittadini extra UE. I periodi di iscrizione alle prove di selezione sono: dal 15/5 al  28/7/2017 per i cittadini italiani e dell'Unione Europea e  dal 28/4  al 19/6/2017 per i cittadini extra-UE.

Second Cycle Degree in  "Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering"

Course presentation

The Master Degree in “Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering” fits within a collaboration between the four major Universities in Emilia-Romagna and the main Companies involved in the design and manufacturing of automobiles and motorbikes in the premium and racing sector: Automobili Lamborghini Spa, Dallara Automobili SpA, Ducati Motor Holding Spa, FCA Group - Maserati e Alfa Romeo, Ferrari Spa, Haas F1 Team, Magneti Marelli Spa, Scuderia Toro Rosso Spa.
The aim of the Master is to educate electronic engineers with a solid knowledge of the methods and tools that make electronics the foundations of all the systems that collect, process, trasmit and store information, with a particular emphasis on the electronic subsystems that are embedded in the nowadays and future vehicles. The graduate in “Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering” is able to understand, propose and adapt what is being developed in the flourishing field of Information and Communication Technologies, playing a fundamental role in the innovation of the automotive sector whose future evolution will increasingly depend on such technologies.

The main features of the master are:
• Teachers selected by a Interuniversity Coordination Committee open to the involved Companies among professors and practitioners, Italian and foreigners, with recognized experience in the field, in order to maximize teaching quality.
• Students, maximum 30 for each year, admitted to the master after a careful evaluation of their previuous academic performance and motivation based on documents and interviews.
• Teaching in two neighboring Universities: first year in Bologna, second year in Modena.
• All classes held in English, many courses with a lab part to be taken at one of the involved Universities or at the facilities of the partner Companies on a “Learning-by-Doing” logic.
• Internships for thesis or activities in “Project Working” mode, taking place within the most important industrial realities in the automotive sector or in University labs.

To be admitted to the master one needs:
• To have a First-level Italian degree, as defined either in D.M. 270/04, or in D.M. 509/99, or alternatively a Degree in any of the pre-existing “Ordinamenti”, or an equivalent Degree obtained abroad.
• To have acquired at least 85 credits (effort measured in Italian CFU) in the following group of disciplines:
o at least 48 credits in the disciplines: Electronics, Electro-Magnetic fields, Telecommunications, Automatic control, Computer engineering, Electric measurements, Electrotechnics, Converters and electrical machines and actuators, Electrical systems for energy;
o at least 32 credits in the disciplines: Computer science, Algebra, Geometry, Mathematical analysis, Probability and statistics, Mathematical physics, Numerical analysis, Operation research, Inorganic chemistry, Chemical technologies, Experimental physics, Theoretical physics, Matter physics.
• To be graduated with an overall mark not less than 95/110 (or equivalent for non-Italian candidates). Candidates with an overall degree mark lower than 95/110 can be granted admission only after a specific scrutiny by the suitably nominated Commission.
• To possess a proficiency in the English language at level B2 (Upper-intermediate) of the CEFR, demonstrated by a certificate fulfilling the prescriptions given in the Call for application.
According to criteria established by the annual Call for applications, a suitably nominated Commission evaluates each candidate individually also by means of a - possibly remote - interview that is carried on in English to ascertain technical skills and motivation.

Studying abroad
The Master Degree in “Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering” allows students to both study abroad by means of student mobility Programmes such as the Erasmus one, and to visit international laboratories to perform internships and thesis activities.

Continuing education
After the graduation in “Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering”, one may continue education by entering a PhD Programme or attending a second-level master.

Working opportunities
The educational path has been designed in strong cooperation with companies operating the automotive sector to allow a seamless insertion of the graduated in high profile roles in the research, development and manufacturing environments focused on vehicles and their technologies.
Yet, the overall education focused on Electronics as the founding language of information-related technologies, allows finding jobs in all the contexts in which electronic devices are paired to physical systems to acquire, process, and control their behavior.
The ability of communicating with the other Information Technology disciplines, make the graduated in “Advanced Automotive Electronic Engineering” an ideal candidate to play the role of project manager in the conception, design, realization and maintenance of complex systems in which the overall functionality depends on the interaction of multiple heterogeneous systems with a strong electronic component.
